Well, currently we're me,
Franc Buxton, now with my Company, FAB Technical Developments Ltd., offering consultancy and development
services in automotive electronics, with a special interest in the Rover
V8 Engine, popular in the UK with custom and kitcar people because of its
lightness and compact, simple design along with high inherent and higher
potential power outputs. We and our associates have expertise in complete automotive
design and automotive electronics. Projects we have been, and still are,
involved in include development of supercharged Rover V8 engines and Electronic
Turbodiesel "chip" upgrades for a well-established 4x4 Rover specialist,
and the design, construction and practical use of engine management and
gearbox management systems, such as the ones on the Stunned
Buffalo Rover SD1, a Rover SD1 4.5 litre V8 bristling with electronic
gizmos, including full electronic engine management, electronic 4-speed
automatic and sequential manual gearbox and electronic speedometer calibration
unit. Most of the systems on this car were completely designed and developed
by Stunned Buffalo (all of them at least partially), including hardware
and software for all systems. This car has now parted company with us in favour
of a Range Rover Classic which is receiving similar treatment, including the
development of the electronic gearbox conversion and investigation into battery and
electric winch control and monitoring facilities for offroaders and modified
fuel injection chips for offroad racers.
Although we are not averse to making a little money here and there
(hence the formation of a proper business!)
and we try always to adopt a professional attitude to clients and enquirers,
this enterprise was set up partly for fun, so we are happy to
entertain enquiries and will gladly help free of charge if at all
possible.
What are we?
As you may have guessed by now,
we are Rover and Land Rover specialists, although we can offer help on
many other vehicle electronic systems and other Rover vehicles. We have detailed knowledge of virtually
all electronic systems fitted to vehicles using the Rover V8 (although
we are currently under contract and thereby unable to deal with the latest
Lucas GEMS and Bosch Motronic units except through J.E.Engineering
Ltd.). We were instrumental in the original development of the
J.E.
Supercharged Range Rovers and their range of Diesel Chip Upgrades for
Range
Rover, Discovery
and Freelander
vehicles. (These links are to J.E.'s Website).
Past projects include, as mentioned above,
a 300+BHP Rover SD1 which would
accelerate from 0-60MPH in 6.5 seconds, cover a standing 1/4-mile in
13.8 seconds, and also regularly towed a 1.5 ton trailer with comfort
and ease.
Modified SD1 Fuel Injection
We can now supply a range of
Modified Fuel Control Units for the fuel-injected
variants of the Rover SD1 and early injected Range Rovers in most if not all parts of the world. We also have
considerable knowledge of the Range Rover type 14CUX "Hotwire" system as fitted to the Range Rover Classic from
1989 to the end of its production life and
may well be able to help with problems or modifications there, too. We have provided custom chips for these
units tailored to the individual specification of the engine. Please
email or telephone if interested.
We can also offer assistance
with the dynamometer calibration of your race or roadgoing engine fitted
with most types of aftermarket engine management or electronic fuel injection
systems, Rover V8 or otherwise. If you have the system and the relevant
information, but (perhaps) are not confident to do the job, we may well
be able to help!
If you think we can help,
feel free to get in touch, either by email,
telephone:+44 (0)7050 604322
or fax:+44 (0)7050 604329.
In case it's not obvious, we are based in the UK!
Email and telephone advice is given freely and sincerely, but without warranty
of any kind.
Why "Stunned Buffalo"?
Good question! Really, it's just a name that has
been associated with us for many years, over many enterprises from rock
band sound systems through CB radio to the current endeavour. At least
you're not likely to forget it!
If you're looking for other commercial sites with this sort of expertise,
or other enthusiast sites, why not take a look at some other
sites of interest.

a)
We think it's a good idea, and find complicated sites unnecessary, and
boring (- and expensive!) to download. This site was created with a combination
of Netscape Composer and hand-coded HTML, and should be readable with any
browser. We want to tell you about ourselves and maybe get your business,
not frustrate you with long downloads of fancy scripts and layouts that
don't work with particular browser preferences. If it doesn't work with
yours, please tell us, especially if you know why and can explain!

b)
We don't have the expertise to do any better!
We also take pride in our command
of the English (British dialect! ;>) ) Language. Any typographical, punctuation
or grammatical errors correctly pointed out will be ashamedly corrected
in short order!
Constructive comments and suggestions
are very welcome. Please feel free to email
