The Stunned Buffalo Rover SD1

This is the Stunned Buffalo Rover SD1, an extensively modified example which we did for fun and experience!

Here are some general pictures, including views of the engine installation.

First, a full side view. Apart from this one, clicking on an image will call up a higher resolution version.

Next, a view of the engine installation from the right-hand side. The J.E.Engineering centre-pull throttle setup can be seen, along with the P6-bracket-mounted 130-Amp alternator and the reverse-turning late Range-Rover water pump on its front cover. This arrangement, along with the Landrover Discovery idler pulley on the other side, ensures adequate wrapping of the drivebelt under the water pump.

The view from the other side. Note the transmission dipstick pressed against the air filter and the idler pulley just ahead of the top hose. The cylindrical can about where the power steering reservoir usually sits is a fuel swirl-pot feeding the injection pump which is on the inner wing under the air filter heat shield. Power steering reservoir is a Range Rover item next to the screenwash tank.

Here is a slightly better view of the reverse water pump. Its bottom hose connection is underneath rather than on top, presenting one or two small problems fitting the bottom hose! Note also the rather scruffy electric fans which, while better than the original one which of course no longer fits anyway, should really have been replaced with something a little more elegant!
